The ultimate Modex guide: 8 tips to make the most of your experience

Written by Geekplus | Feb 16, 2024 3:24:51 PM

Three buildings. 90 acres. 3.9 million square feet: There's a lot of ground to cover in Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center.

During the second week of March, more than 1,000 providers will showcase their supply chain and warehousing solutions in that massive space during the one of the largest industry conferences in the world. With that many exhibitors in such a vast space, attendees could spend all four days simply walking the floor. But then they'd miss the busy schedule of panels and keynotes, all capped off by the 2024 MHI Innovation Awards

Attending a tradeshow like Modex, sponsored by international trade association MHI, is a daunting experience ... if you don't have a plan. With a little research, you can navigate your way through the event with ease. Here are some tips for getting around at the Modex 2024 supply chain conference:

Download the event app: The Modex event app is a great resource for navigating the show. It includes a map of the exhibit hall, a list of exhibitors, and a schedule of events. You can use it to plan your day and find your way around the show. Download the Modex 2024 app.

Study the floor plan: Before you arrive at the event, take some time to study the floor plan. This will give you an idea of where the different exhibitors are located and help you plan your route through the exhibit hall. Check out the floor plan

Comfort is king: You've seen the floorplan, so you know you'll be walking. A lot. As longtime attendees of supply chain trade shows will tell you, comfort trumps style. Please wear comfortable shoes. Your feet will thank you, and proper arc support will help ensure you're ready for all those cocktail receptions and parties after the exhibit hall closes each day.

Strike up a conversation: Exhibitors are at Modex to talk about the amazing, innovative solutions their company has created. They want to answer your questions to make sure you understand how the solutions work and how they can help achieve your business objectives. Don't sidle up to a booth, take a glance (and some swag) and simply leave. The exhibit hall is a great educational opportunity. Don't miss out.

Plan your schedule in advance:  Speaking of educational opportunities, Modex organizers have packed a dizzying number of seminars, panels and keynotes into the schedule. To make the most of the four-day event and not miss anything, it's important to make a schedule. Just be sure to include Geekplus in your plans.

Rick DeFiesta, executive vice president of sales and solutions, will discuss “Why flexible automation is a safe, long-term bet” on March 11 at 1:30 p.m. Randy Randolph, vice president of channel partners Americas, will bring his expertise to the “Optimizing Fulfillment and Sorting: Choosing the right GTP technology” panel on March 13 at 2:30 p.m.

There are many, many other opportunities during Modex to learn all about the industry.

Use the shuttle service: The weather should be perfect for an outdoor stroll to the venue from your hotel, but remember how much walking you'll be doing once you get inside: If you are staying at a hotel near the event, it might be best to use a complimentary Modex shuttle to the World Congress Center. Modex buses will run on designated routes every 15-20 minutes in the morning and every 20-30 minutes in the afternoon.

Power up: Nobody wants to be in the middle of a business deal, reaching into their pocket to look up a bit of crucial information only to be confronted with a dead phone. Make sure this doesn't happen to you. Bring a portable phone charger to ensure you won't miss any important calls or messages -- and can take all the Modex photos you need.

Take breaks: Don't try to see everything at once. Take breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge. This will help you stay energized and focused throughout the event.

By following these tips, you can make the most of your time at Modex and navigate your way through the event with ease. See you at Booth C6706!
